New Year Vacation Photos. Ready?
New Year is almost on the doorstep!
A many-hours shopping marathon is over, we’ve already sent gifts to our remote relatives and put presents into socks for our family, we signed hundreds of cards in order not to leave anybody without our attention, cooked a yummy turkey, a lot of salads and many wonderful dulcet cookies (and it makes no sense how many cookies you bake, they’ll be swept away first).
Everything and everyone is ready to celebrate, but still we are is in rush making use of the last minutes to get everything prepared – food, drinks, cookies, presents to all and everybody, decorating fir trees… But, did you prepare yourself for taking photos of the holidays? If not, hurry up, as you are just left with some days only!
New Year is always an amazing and colorful holiday, it brings bright emotions and happiness to all the people. And so, all those emotions and colors have definitely to be caught. So here are some thoughts of mine on how to make better New Year photos.
1. Color, color and color once again

For me personally, New Year is a colorful, bright holiday, that’s why I want to see this diversity of colors in my photos as well. So I nearly never make any desaturation or black-white conversion on my photos during this holiday. Colored pictures influence our subconscious; they can preserve not only the actions and lights, but the very atmosphere of the holiday. And that’s exactly what I’m looking for!
2. Catch the new year mood

It’s an old good tradition to make snowmen, to decorate everything with garlands, Christmas balls, candy canes and ribbons… Oh, an amazing tradition! It creates a New Year mood long before the very holiday. So why not to take some photos of this? Besides, all the families try to do everything in their own way, so it’s also interesting to see how different people try to express their tastes and preferences.
3. How about the light?

OK, taking photos outdoors is fine, but what about shooting indoors? I will personally adjust myself to the lightning first – as there are both garlands, candles, top light and so on and so forth. So I think it’s better to take some test photos before than to spend additional time on adjusting light temperature and tints in post-production.
4. Final preparations

Everyone is getting itchy, as the New Year is almost at hand! Agitation, delight, happiness… It’s high time to capture the final preparations before the holiday begins! Try to be everywhere and to see everyone – as you may become a witness of genuine, candid emotions. They are worth being captured!
5. Details

Yes, being everywhere is good, but not enough! Be careful and attentive to details! The very details make a holiday. Balls and stars, ginger cookies, angels and snowmen are just details, but they are an integral part of the New Year! Can you imagine the New Year without all this? Me personally, no. So pay attention to details. And don’t forget about bokeh as well 🙂
6. Oh, finally!

Midnight, chime bells are ringing, everyone is greeting each other and exchanging gifts and presents! I know that you are very curious what is inside your present, but instead you need to grasp your camera and start shooting the emotions of those who are opening their gifts at the moment – delight, joy, smiles, jokes……… Oh, I like it greatly! Did everyone get a piece of your camera’s attention? Good! Come on, now you fairly deserve to open your gift, maybe there is some new photo gear you were dreaming of? 🙂
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
COOL!
